Who’s the next great NBA player?

By CBS Sports reporter Jeff ZillgittThe NBA draft lottery will be on Sunday, May 25, 2019.

The Los Angeles Lakers will be in the position to select either Kentucky’s Julius Randle or Michigan’s Lauri Markkanen at No. 1 overall, and the Atlanta Hawks will select a point guard at No, 2 overall.

The lottery will also be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, with the top three picks.

The Los Angeles Clippers, the defending champion and first seed in the Western Conference, are expected to select Lonzo Ball No. 3, the top overall pick from the California Institute of Technology.

Ball was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year and the Associated Press’ Big 12 Player of Year after leading the league in scoring.

The Portland Trail Blazers will select De’Aaron Fox at No 5, the No. 6 overall pick.

Fox has become a staple in the Blazers’ offense, leading the team with 17.1 points per game, and his ability to stretch the floor could be his most important asset as he enters his sophomore season.

The Milwaukee Bucks, who have won six straight, have been the favorites to select Giannis Antetokounmpo at No 8.

Antetos, a 6-foot-10 wing, is averaging 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.

He is a two-time All-Star and a first-team All-NBA First Team member.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will select Myles Turner No. 10, the third overall pick, and point guard Russell Westbrook will select Oklahoma City’s Tyus Jones No. 11.

Both players are expected on the draft lottery’s top two teams.
