Michigan lottery winners who won the jackpot will have to wait to see their prize money.
State officials said on Friday they have received hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations to support an operation to help people get on the winning ticket.
The lottery has a $2 billion tab, and lottery officials say they need $1.6 billion to help pay for it.
They are working with other states to determine what money to give away, they said.
The state lottery board of directors will hold a meeting Thursday night to determine how much money to donate.
The goal is to get the money back into the state’s general fund, where it can help fund programs and services.
